Reusable Bag Program

In an effort to conserve resources and reduce waste and litter in Aspen, the free distribution of single-use plastic bags is not permitted in our local grocers.

Although you can pay $0.20 per bag for the use of disposable, recyclable, and compostable paper bags, reusable bags or not using bags at all, is recommended.

Read the Single Use Bag Study (PDF) to learn more about how the Reusable Bag Program is working.

Reusable Bag Bank Locations in Aspen

“Based on the best available science and guidance from public health professionals, reusable bags and foodware can be used safely by employing common sense and widely-used hygienic practices.” - Upstream Solutions.

Now that scientific studies have demonstrated that reusable bags are not a significant risk to public safety, we are excited to re-launch the Reusable Bag Bank program.
