The City of Aspen will enter a Stage 2 Water Shortage on September 1. With the US Drought Monitor declaring Pitkin County in “extreme drought conditions” and local rivers running at 40-70% of median flows, we as a community must work together to conserve our precious water. All the City’s water supply is dependent on streams so all of our collective actions will help preserve our water supply over the dry late summer and fall. There are several restrictions that will be in place which you can find at www.cityofaspen.com/drought. Three things to know immediately is there will be no washing of sidewalks and other paved areas, no washing of private cars or other vehicles, and no landscape watering between 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. We also ask that you water your lawn every other day rather than daily. Thank you for conserving our shared resource.
